We had a good stay here. The place is affordable, modern, and clean. Some reviewers clearly don’t belong in a city, where homeless people exist. I was super glad that they had a TV with Netflix, etc. The worst thing was the water pressure. The review about the hardness of the water is just bizarre. My hair was super soft all week! The bartender Saini (I probably butchered that lol) was really nice as well!

Large, clean room and bathroom. Friendly helpful staff. Price very good-it is not centrally located, but a good location even if you need to visit other parts of Manhattan. Fairly close to Columbia

I go dancing here one Friday out of the month with Chicago New York Steppers. It's always a great time because they have the best dance floor. Never tried the food but everyone else eats and drinks so it must be good. I do buy water and sometimes a snack and those are reasonably priced. Staff treat you nice and they become friends after awhile. When I planned my grandmothers' wedding, I chose Aloft. We cancelled because of the pandemic but the event planners were professional and personable.

Mr. Larry Parker the security really helped my friend and me out in a jam. Very sweet and funny guy.

Beds were comfy ,room was clean.... The bar downstairs was fun , the bartender was so awesome ...... The drinks were good ..... I would definitely stay again 👍👍👍👍👍

Unfortunately, the quality of the water in the showers ruins the entire hotel for me. The water is EXTREMELY hard. Immediately when my hair gets wet, it becomes stiff, crunchy, and tangled. My own personal shampoo, which normally lathers very well does not lather whatsoever in this water. My toothpaste doesn't even foam up when brushing my teeth with the sink water. This is by far the worst water quality I have ever experienced. Just thinking about the excessive levels of minerals and heavy metals in their water makes me cringe. It is making my already fragile hair fall out like crazy and I refuse to take another shower at this hotel. It is unacceptable for a hotel of this price rate to not offer a better quality of water to its guests. I do not need top-notch water, just something that does not destroy my hair with one shower. I would also like to add that the hotel claims to be entirely smoke-free (signs are everywhere), but the entire lobby and two elevators have an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke, masked with men's cologne.

Room was extremely dirty. Not cleaned at all. Room 302 There was caked on black dust everywhere when I Clorox wiped for sanitation. Gross! Shower smelled like mildew. I used a face towel to wipe it and black and brow mold was on the towel. You do not see it because of dark tile and grout. The sink had a pink rim. That normally means it is not cleaned with cleaning products. Because of all this dirt I Clorox wiped the headboard, well that was full of black dirt too. This room is just vacuumed and sheets are changed and that is all. Disgusting!!!! I have uploaded pictures of two wipes and two face towel. I used 25 wipes and 3 face towels. I have stayed at other Alof Hotels. This is not up to standards at all or other hotel for the price I paid for the room. Front desk staff was nice though. Don’t stay here.

This 3* hotel thinks its a 5 *. Most comfy hotel bed ever, lovely fluffy towels and complimentary hot drinks. The room is very well thought out, even a small fridge. This is the closest hotel to the Columbia Campus. Lovely, helpful friendly staff too. Well done guys, keep it up. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.

After reading some of the recent reviews, I was very concerned. After my 1 night stay, however, I can say I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the exterior is a little shabby, and the entrance leaves a lot to be desired, but everything else was wonderful. The young woman who checked us in also checked us out. She was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The evening crew was kind and helpful as well! The room was spotless, and the bathroom was updated. We are Columbia parents and expect to stay here often!
